Environmental Study Loop

The Michael and Tricia Berns Environmental Study Loop is a unique, innovative facility that engages visitors in the science of park management and conservation.  Made possible by a gift from Michael and Tricia Berns, it consists of an amphitheater, a student staging pavilion, and a half-mile ADA-accessible loop trail with eight science field stations.

Throughout 2014, the Crystal Cove Alliance and Crystal Cove State Park education team will launch an exciting new collection of programs that transforms the public, students, and afterschool groups into investigation teams who will help solve the scientific mysteries within Moro Canyon.  Though big events will be focused in four theme months – March, April, November, and December – the Berns Environmental Study Loop is open every day of the year.  Visitors are invited to get involved in ongoing Citizen Science research projects or to return for an in-depth scientific investigation.
